Dalhousie- The Great Himalayan Trip

Working 24*7*365, but having love and passion for exploring the mountains, and antique architecture? Check out how @travel.decamplife (Sumit Singh Gandhi) enjoyed his Himalayan Trip while working actively.

Dalhousie situated in the Chamba District is a high-altitude town spread across 5 hills near the Dhauladhar mountain range in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

It’s home to colonial-era buildings, including St. Francis and St. John’s churches, which date back to the rule of the British Raj in the 1800s

It can be a perfect start for your trekking journey in the Ranges of the Himalayas. Sumit took his car from Jalandhar and started his trip to Dalhousie, taking his parents along, to give them a feel of the mountains too.

  • Best place to stay in Dalhousie:

He was not looking for a vacation but a workcation in the hills, that too while relaxing amidst the hills, there is when he found out one of the most ravishing and the antique property, The Elgin Hall, one of the best homestays in Dalhousie, is named after British Lord Elgin is an 1857 bungalow, nestled amongst deodar trees. The property has been uplifted to a tranquil and opulent boutique retreat for families, travellers, and wanderers alike. Best place to stay in Dalhousie

  • After work hours, he visited –
  1.  Panch Pulla waterfall-With the literal meaning of five bridges, Panch Pulla is a blend of five streams that combine to form a waterfall.
  2. Hike to the Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary-With a grand plethora of wild trees, flora, fauna, grasslands, and views of snowcapped mountains, Kalatop wildlife sanctuary comes alive near Dalhousie
  3. Offer your prayers at Chamunda Devi Temple
  4. Shopped at Tibetan Handicraft Markets
  5. Visit the famous St. John’s Church- This piece of architecture reminds you of old-style stone construction housing a beautiful church, led by a nice aisle and lovely backdrop. The interiors possess glass paintings, enticed with glorified colours and show various stories of Saints John & Peter.
  6. Brijvilla Dalhousie: This peacefully secluded 1939 property has maintained its slightly dour, late-colonial character.
It is an Eighty-Year-Old building surrounded by a lot of greenery, snow mountains and peace! The archaic furniture had caught my eyes and attention. Brijvilla Dalhousie

Dalhousie is a blend of nature, antique architecture, a great start for your trekking journey and many more amazing sights.
