Budget Trip to Paris – The best way to know it all!

You know what? Visiting Paris never gets old, it is a dream destination for all of us. I firmly believe that no matter how many times I go and stay in this city, I will always find something new and exclusive in this dreamy city. Sadly, however, this beautiful city isn’t known for its affordability,  It will always make budget travelers like us being worried about the thought that what this trip might do to our wallet?

But still, we imagine ourselves uncorking a bottle of french wine on a sunny day, spreading happiness, and gazing out on the perfect Paris skyline. From historic architecture to musical streets, from savory delicious food to wine delights, from cobblestone streets to smartly dressed locals walking around, this city is known for its uniqueness. Trust me! Its beauty will melt your hearts as well as your wallets.

If you are not wise enough then the plentiful restaurants, bars, and attractions of Paris can lighten your Euros in no time. Not one for being deterred by this, however, I went to Paris and I kept it as much budget-friendly as I could. And guess what? I am delighted to say that I did see the best of the city for cheap!

So, here I will take you through my own experiences, tips, and tricks to make the best out of your Paris trip and that too without breaking the banks.

Saving on Hotel Stays

-Try staying in the central neighborhood so that you can save on transit. Paris is a compact city, you can get on to some of the main points just by walking on foot. Try choosing a hotel near the Louvre in the Marais, in the Latin Quarter, and near the Eiffel Tower. I did the same.

– If you are comfortable with traveling in the metro then try taking a hotel on the outskirts of the city. I could spot much cheaper options here.

– Above all, don’t be afraid of staying in cheap hotels. They are inexpensive only because they have very few facilities but you just need a roof to stay under. You can get some of them at less than 80 Euros per night.

Getting around the City

  • Always try taking the public transit in from the Charles de Gaulle.
  • Go for the regional train (RER B) option from the airport.
  • There is a bus named “RoissyBus”, it is operated by the city and just cost around 12.50 EUR per person for dropping you at the nearby stops.
  • But beware with the taxis, they charge around 50-70 EUR and plus the luggage and tip charges extra. Taxis for short distances is not worth it.
  • Buy a 10 pack of metro and bus tickets and you are good to go. I tried with this and saved a lot on my travel expenses.

Tips for Sights and Attractions

  • You can save a lot by buying your tickets online. I had all my bookings prior to my visit. It not just saves your cost but also keeps everything organized and hassle-free.
  • Buy a Paris Museum Pass

There are numerous museums and attractions in Paris and their ticket price will add up too quickly. To save on this, I bought myself the Paris Museum Pass. It helps by giving you offers and discounts on admission to 60 museums and monuments around the city. For two days it will cost just 48 EUR and it will vary according to your choice.

  • If you happen to visit Paris on the first Sunday of the month between October and March, then most of the museums will let you visit for free. Sounds Unbelievable? But it is true!
  • For shopping souvenirs, head on to local markets. Selling everything from new clothing to cookware, these outdoor markets offer exotic shopping and souvenir opportunities, often at low prices.

I know Paris is an expensive city, but there are plenty of budget options if you know where to look. Just by making few small adjustments like me, you can find big savings and make your Paris trip, the most memorable and unforgettable one.
