" Coorg - Mini Scotland of India "

Coorg – The Mini Scotland

Whenever I hear the name Coorg, all I think about is COFFEE, so after a long Europe trip, I found myself just blown away by this hell of a place in Karnataka, India in the Western Ghats.

“Everything the light touches is our Kingdom!”

Just by the quirks of nature, the hills of Coorg have bald patches just like punctuation in between a melody-dense rainforest. Here, myriad avian nests and endangered native amphibians thrive. A portion of the forest is revered as God by the locals and is kept untouched.

Top Things to Do in Coorg:

  1. Visit Madikeri – Can’t stress enough!
  2. Elephant Bathing
  3. Try the local Caffeine- Coorg Coffee
  4. Forest Homestays – The coziness of which is un-describable.
  5. Cheladara – the secret waterfall worth every minute of hike. Don’t forget to take a cold bath.

For the urban souls of ours, busy grinding the chase of success, as defined in urban dialect, knowing hustle as an inevitable part of ourselves, Coorg is an idyllic retreat to stop and rethink the meaning of life. Even if you don’t want to delve deep into philosophy, but want to slow down in the sheer pleasure of closeness to nature, the hospitality in Coorg is the ultimate answer. The rest will be answered by the omnipotent nature.

Standing by the lobby of my resort, I closed my eyes and breathed. A sudden burst of pure oxygen splashed my lungs! Is it the fresh air?

From a blissful luxurious retreat in the Western Ghats jungles to a gorgeous backdrop of a destination wedding venue, The Birchwood Retreat has perfected the art of responsible hospitality. It has taken keen notes of the nuances of traditional Kovada architecture and incorporated subtle styles of the locals.

I also went on in exploration around the Coorg Backwater Jungle Resort to find stable internet for my work. Oh, this is such a hassle in remote places. But when you have a responsibility towards 200K+ aspirants, you better find a way to get around the disconnections.

All in all, if you’re planning to or just popping through Coorg, I hope this blog might have helped you a little.

I think you could spend a full week here on your backpacking trip and absolutely love it.

Coorg is stunning.

Witness the magic of Coorg!

– Sumit!
