Maldives – “the huddle of islands”

Islands are known as one of the most peaceful places in the world. Maldives being the hub of islands, is an extremely peaceful place with all the beauty of the world. The island paradise of the Maldives, with its dreamy white beaches covered in palm trees, turquoise lagoons and breathtaking and varied underwater world invites you to experience an unforgettable stay. Maldives is home to perhaps the best beaches in the world; they’re on almost every one of the country’s nearly 1200 islands and are so consistently perfect that it’s hard not to become blasé about them. While some beaches may boast softer granules than others, the basic fact remains: you won’t find consistently whiter-than-white powder sand and luminous cyan-blue water like this anywhere else on earth. This fact alone is enough to bring well over a million people a year to this tiny, remote Indian Ocean paradise. The islands are oases of peace and beauty, while the country’s natural landscape will astonish you. From an environmental point of view, the future of the Maldives is even more uncertain and as the world’s lowest country, the threat of rising sea levels presents a very real possibility that these islands could become uninhabitable in the relatively near future and disappear completely within a short geological time-scale. So if you’re planning a trip to Maldives, now is the time.

If you crave a relaxing vacation that allows for some serious scuba diving, the Maldives will certainly not fail you. The water is among the best for diving — clear and warm with temperatures hovering between 82 and 86 degrees. When Marco Polo referred to the Maldives as the “flower of the Indies,” he might have been referring to the bouquets of fish that decorate the clear, turquoise lagoons. The water in Maldives is so crystal clear that one could see all the fishes and other aquatic life which resides there.  If the water and beaches become an unlikely bore, wander into the city, a neighbouring island, a different resort, or a local fishing village. The small size of the islands and their proximity to one another make day trips and most inter-island travel quite simple. Head to the capital of Malé to visit the mosques or hunt for bargains at the markets. For a more relaxed day, arrange a trip to a local fishing village and catch a glimpse of native island life.

A person can never get bored if he travels to a place like Maldives. This is because it is such an exciting place with a lot of things to do. Strap on an oxygen tank, load up an underwater camera and swim with the reef sharks in the Shark Thila reef, or explore the Maldive Victory wreck located near the airport island, Hulule. Dance to the beat of a different drum at the cultural night sponsored by a resort. Visit the highest natural point in the Maldives, located on Farldhoo in the Northern Atolls. Climb to the top for striking views of this distribution of islands. Resorts in Maldives are surely fun but i suggest you try the authentic local life of maldives. To experience authentic Maldivian culture, you’ll need to visit a so-called ‘local island’ such as Huraa, Hithadoo or Maafushi, where you can stay at family-owned guesthouses, buy fresh mahi-mahi direct from fishermen and wander whitewashed streets as the call to prayer summons mosque-going crowds.

Now here’s an awesome fact about Maldives that will make you want to visit this beautiful island, in the international community, the Maldives is considered to be one of the safest tourist destinations in the world, due to all its islands being isolated from each other and at the same time, being small and manageable. If you wanna take a break from your stressful life, you must visit this chilling and adventurous country at least once in your lifetime.
