Shimla – The Great Himalayan Trip
Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh, is a place everybody wants to visit. It offers much more than charming colonial buildings against a backdrop of the magnificent snow-capped Himalayas. The upper reaches around the Shimla region offer skating on natural ice as well as host the MTB Himalaya (South East Asia’s biggest mountain biking race).
The things which make Shimla famous is its glorious past and the enormous number of Bollywood songs/scenes shoots that happened.
Things to visit in Shimla:
- Visit Kali Bari Temple-Jakhu Hanuman temple is located on the summit of the highest peak in the area. The legend associated with this temple is very interesting. To reach the temple one can go by foot trekking 2 KM steep up the hill from the Ridge. Or hire a private taxi
- Himalayan zoo and a Nature Park
- Vice-Regal Lodge- One of the famous tourist attraction spot in Shimla. Located on Observatory Hill the building houses the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies. Most of the building is not accessible to the tourists. A part of it which is a museum is worth a visit
- Skiing in Kufri- one of the best things to do when in Shimla.
- Watching the sunset at Scandal Point.
- Rafting at Tattapani
- Shopping at Mall Road- One can even have a chance to Horse Riding there and stroll around the streets.
- Ice-Skating in Asia’s only open-air ice-skating rink
- Trekking at Shailey Peak
- Sightseeing and Yaks at Green Valley- Getting a chance to sit on the Yaks and clicking enormous pictures, playing with huge rabbits, everything could be done here.
This is one of the most beautiful places I have been till now, the scenic beauty is just awe-dropping and eye-catchy.
