Taking A Trip To Switzerland – The Best way to travel

In the heart of the Alps, bordered by Austria, France, Germany, Italy, and Liechtenstein, there is a beautiful landlocked country we all want to visit at least once in our lifetime -Switzerland. Its plenty cultural attractions, vibrant cities, world-class museums, renowned festivals, and ravishing mountain scenery makes it one of the most beautiful country to be in.

Imagine yourself sitting on the rooftop of the continent of Europe, Switzerland wowing with its breathtaking mountain peaks and pristine glaciers. You will have unbeatable winter adventures and summer outdoor experiences which will be there in your memories forever.

During my trip to Switzerland, I saw numerous incredible sights ranging from giant glaciers, epic mountain peaks, wild rivers to museums, and amazing scenic train journeys. Relaxing at luxury resorts with breathtaking views of glacier-fed lakes and tasting wine at local vineyards, this place has a variety of things that needs to be experienced.

This place has rolling hills carpeted with spring flowers, white slopes dotted with charming villages, and the majestic snow-capped peaks of the Alps. All this beauty definitely needs some of the capturing. Here, I am going to share my own experience of my trip to Switzerland. So, let’s start and get some insights from the trip.

What is the best time to visit?

During any time of the year, you won’t find so much heat here. The weather is moderate most of the time. There are around four distinguishable seasons in Switzerland i.e. autumn (September- November), winters (mid-January to mid-March), spring (March to May), and summer.

The best time to visit Switzerland will depend upon what do you want to do, see and experience there. If you want to do some adventurous sports like trekking, mountain hiking then the sunny months of September and October are your best bets.

If you like skiing then March will be better.

I visited this place during winter and trust me it was the best experience so far.

How to get there?

Remember one thing, that although Switzerland is located in the heart of Europe it is not a part of the European Union, border control is still in effect. The country’s main airport is Zurich International Airport and it is one of the largest international airports and also known as the principal hub of the Swiss International airport of Switzerland.

If you are going there from a nearby place, then you can go by road as Switzerland is linked to Europe’s extensive motorway network.

You can also travel by train, as each day there are plenty of trains that arrive in Switzerland from Germany, Austria, Italy, France or the Netherlands.

How to travel around the country?

I’m sure you’ll be impressed by the public transport of this country; I would highly recommend you to make use of it. You will be able to get through from the largest cities to the tiniest hamlet at an affordable cost and that too hassle-free.

The intercity trains will take around 30 minutes or 1 hour to travel from one city to another. And above all, you can surely rely on the timings of the train.

But taking a bus is not as comfortable as a train, but if you want to travel to some places which cant be reached by train you can choose to travel by bus for sure.

I also tried passenger ships and ferries for traveling to some places, they also run on a regular schedule just as trains and buses do.

Must-do activities in Switzerland

  • I went to visit the amazing Rhine Falls which is the world’s largest waterfall. To stand high above the rhine falls, feeling the roar and vibration of the water all over the body is just so calming that I would highly recommend you to visit this.
  • I also visited Aletsch, the largest alpine glacier. I did some winter sports here.
  • Above all, how can you miss visiting the incredible museum of transportation? It has different areas of the exhibition like road, rail, water, and aviation. You’ll definitely enjoy this.

So, I hope you have got some basic details about my trip to Switzerland. You should plan a trip to Switzerland at least once in your life and the experience you’ll gain will remain with you forever.
