Things to do in Coorg

Coorg, also known as the Kashmir of the south has a lot in its store to offer to its tourists. From nature exploration to adventurous activities, from rejuvenating experiences to calming views, the place seems to capitalize it all. Pristine landscapes and beautiful views, the lush greenery, and safaris will not let you get over this place anytime soon. No wonder, the place is called the Scotland of India and the experience you will gain here will be like never before.
Undulating green hills with bright blue skies, the picturesque region is known for its amazing coffee and a lot more. Shout out to all the photographers out there! Be ready with your lights and camera, you won’t regret capturing this beautiful place. From nature lovers to adventure enthusiasts, from food connoisseurs to culture vultures, this place is a perfect fit for all sorts of travelers.
Here, I am sharing my own experience of all activities I did during my visit to Coorg. So, let’s go through all of them one by one and be ready with your pen-paper to add them all to your bucket list.
1) Abbey Falls
As I am fond of photography, I just couldn’t leave exploring this beautiful place blessed with nature’s bounty. The waterfall here looks so milky and pristine, and it is located in a scenic plantation which will help you get that perfect click for your profile picture. So, no need to wonder anymore about what to do in Coorg, just head on to Abbey falls!

2) Camping and Trekking
The breathtaking western ghats have ample opportunities for hiking and trekking. I went there in the early summers but I would recommend you to go there during winters as the calm weather will let you enjoy it even better.

3) River Rafting
Who doesn’t like white water rafting? It is my personal favorite too. The Barapole river offers you grades from I to V letting you have the ultimate adventurous experience.

4) Virajpet Day Trip
This is one of those underrated places which will give you the most breath-taking experience. I believe that if you are done visiting some of the great tourist attractions in Coorg then you must head on to this place. It is located at a distance of around 22 km from Coorg and you can also drive here by your car and enjoy this amazing sightseeing tour.

5) Sightseeing by Jeep Safari
There are numerous jeep safari tours available in Coorg. Exploring is my favorite part, so I just went exploring the breath-taking views of the landscapes of the Kabbe hills and Nishani Hills.

6) Hiking on the Western Ghats
I planned a hike to Raja’s seat and I had a great time watching all the panoramic views around. You should also plan for a hike and enjoy the beautiful sunset view.

7) Heritage Tour at Madikeri Fort
If you are going on a trip with family then you can enjoy this place with your folks. This place is extremely rich in its culture and traditions.

8) Bird Watching at Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary
The lush and forested mountains within the Coorg region are home to a wide range of endangered bird species. I took a birdwatching tour in this region to spot some winged creatures I’ve never seen before.
Location: Subramanya Road, Kumbarahalli

9) Microlight Flying
This was one of my most memorable experiences at Coorg, flying 500 feet high above the ground just gives a different type of feeling altogether. I could feel the adrenaline rush in my body, and I hope you would also like to feel this. Those spellbinding views are still there in mind. If you have a high budget then you must go and try out this amazing experience.

10) Civet Creek Camp
Imagine how would it feel to be under the sky full of stars, experiencing the tranquillity of hills in Coorg? You can experience all this by doing camping in the lap of nature and it will also include so many activities like trekking and river rafting.

Cost: INR 3000 to INR 3300 per person
